Editorial Policy
How we research, write, and update the content on this site โ and our honest approach to using AI.
This page explains how Porta Potty Guys produces editorial content. We published it because transparency about how modern content is made helps you judge whether to trust it, and because Google's own guidelines recommend that sites using AI-assisted content be upfront about it.
Who Writes Our Content
Content on this site is produced by the Porta Potty Guys Editorial Team โ writers and researchers with backgrounds in construction management, event planning, and the portable sanitation industry. We use the shared "Editorial Team" byline rather than individual author names because our guides are typically reviewed by multiple people before publication and updated by whoever is closest to the topic when data changes.
Our Approach to AI Assistance
We use AI tools (primarily Claude) to assist with research, drafting, and formatting. We believe AI is a legitimate research and drafting assistant when used with editorial oversight โ similar to how professional writers have used research assistants, style tools, and grammar checkers for decades.
Here's our specific process:
- Research phase (AI-assisted): We use AI to aggregate information from primary sources โ OSHA regulations, ADA guidelines, PSAI industry publications, US Census Bureau data, NOAA climate records โ and surface relevant facts for a given topic.
- Fact-checking (human): Every factual claim that appears on this site โ OSHA citation, pricing figure, statistic, regulation โ is checked by a human editor against the primary source before publication. AI hallucinations (citing regulations that don't exist, fabricating statistics) are specifically what this step catches.
- Drafting (AI-assisted, human-edited): AI helps with initial drafting and formatting. An editor then rewrites, restructures, and adds original analysis, operational advice, and perspective that AI cannot produce.
- Review (human): Every article gets a final review for accuracy, clarity, and usefulness before it goes live.
- Updates (quarterly): Pricing data, regulatory information, and city-level statistics are reviewed at least quarterly. The "Last reviewed" date on each article reflects the most recent editorial review, not just the original publication date.
What We Will and Won't Do
We will:
- Use AI for research, drafting, and structural improvements
- Have a human editor review every piece before publication
- Cite primary sources and link to them
- Update content when regulations, pricing, or other facts change
- Correct mistakes promptly when they're pointed out
We will not:
- Publish AI output without human editorial review
- Invent statistics, regulations, or sources that don't exist
- Use fake named authors with fabricated biographies
- Create content designed only to rank on search engines rather than help readers
- Publish without fact-checking against primary sources
Primary Sources We Rely On
Where we cite a fact, we try to point to its primary source rather than a secondary aggregator. The sources we use most often:
- OSHA regulations (osha.gov) โ construction site sanitation requirements, handwashing standards, citation amounts
- ADA.gov (ada.gov) โ accessibility requirements for public events
- Portable Sanitation Association International (psai.org) โ industry standards and best practices for unit sizing and servicing
- US Census Bureau (census.gov) โ population, construction employment, housing statistics for our city pages
- Bureau of Labor Statistics (bls.gov) โ metro-level construction employment data
- NOAA / Open-Meteo โ climate data used for city-specific seasonal recommendations
Pricing Data
The pricing ranges on this site reflect what our partner network typically charges for the listed service in the listed market. Ranges are aggregated quarterly from quotes across our provider network. They are informational, not guarantees. Actual quotes depend on delivery distance, rental duration, servicing frequency, season, and the specific provider you work with. Call (866) 712-6719 for an exact quote for your situation.
Conflicts of Interest
Porta Potty Guys is a lead referral service. When you submit a quote request through this site or call our tracking number, we route your information to porta potty rental providers in our network. Providers pay us when qualified leads convert to rentals. This is our business model and we're transparent about it.
We don't accept payment to influence editorial content. Our guides don't recommend specific providers by name, don't rank providers, and don't claim any provider is "best." Our goal is to help you understand the service, figure out what you need, and connect with a provider who can deliver it.
Corrections
If you spot an error โ a wrong OSHA citation, outdated pricing, a regulation we got wrong, anything โ please email justin@gumpglobal.com. We take corrections seriously and update the page with a note of what changed.
